The union’s Member Services Department is here to help union members like you with the challenges we all face on the job. Have a question about your paycheck? Do you feel you’re not being treated fairly? Do you want to make your worksite function more effectively? Member Services is here to help!
Member Services staff and our volunteer Advocates assist union members with a variety of work-related matters including, but not limited to:
- On the job injuries (workers’ compensation);
- Paycheck/overtime/fair pay issues;
- Grievance procedure;
- and more!
The Member Services team includes Director Michelle Velasquez-Starr and Advocate Tricia Cowell. Both bring a lifetime of experience helping others, including front-line experience and expertise.
Together with the volunteer member Advocates, Michelle and Tricia are available to answer questions, address issues proactively and defend the rights of our members.
Our Member Advocates are an essential part of the SEIU Virginia 512 team. These trained members span across the state, assisting Member Services staff by providing on site assistance to those in the workplace.
