Virginia public service and home care workers joined essential workers across the country in a national day of action to call on Congress to pass meaningful COVID relief, which includes:
- State and local government aid;
- $15 minimum wage;
- Investment in good home care jobs;
- Stimulus checks and expanded UI benefits; and more.
“Our frontline workers are sacrificing their health every day to serve the residents of our country, whether it’s home care workers, first responders, health care workers or sanitation workers,” said Fairfax County Chair Jeff McKay, rallying with SEIU members. “It’s time for Congress to make sure when they pass this much-needed stimulus bill that we support our workers and support our local economies, so we can get past this pandemic.”
