Elections aren’t about candidates. Elections are about us, our families, and our communities!
That’s why union members work to elect candidates — regardless of political party — who will fight for working families and what we need to thrive: living wages, affordable health care, retirement security, and justice on the job and in our communities.
Union members interviewed all the candidates running for the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in the June 11 primary, and reviewed their written answers to our questions as well as their records. After doing so, frontline union members voted to endorse the following candidates:
Fairfax County Chair: Jeff McKay
Braddock District Supervisor: James Walkinshaw
Hunter Mill District Supervisor: Walter Alcorn
Lee District Supervisor: Rodney Lusk
Providence District Supervisor: Dalia Palchik
“Union members in Fairfax County are proud to endorse these champions for working families,” said Tammie Wondong, a 30-year Fairfax County employee and the President of the Fairfax Chapter of SEIU Virginia 512. “We look forward to working together with them to ensure good unions jobs and a brighter future for all families across the county.”
Election Day is Tuesday, June 11. The polls will be open from 6 am – 7 pm. You can confirm your local polling place, and what’s on the ballot, by visiting the Virginia Department of Elections website.
Voters in Fairfax can also vote “in-person absentee” at the Fairfax County Government Center Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 am – 4:30 pm, Thursday from 8am – 7pm, and Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
